How to Contact Members of Congress

All Members

During regular business hours, a staffer will answer the general office phone number right away, unless there is high call volume. Most of the time, the people answering the phones are interns or low-ranking staffers, but they will transfer calls to other staffers within the office when asked. Offices rarely provide direct-dials but we list them when possible. To speak directly with the member, it's best to ask to be transferred to the member's scheduler or Chief of Staff. 

Speaker of the House of Representatives

Calls made to the office during regular business hours do not get routed to a computer system or go to a voicemail machine, but are answered by a human. Given that it's the Speaker's office, call volume may be high at times.
