United States Department of Treasury – Office of the Secretary

The Trump Administration continues to make key staff appointments. Four new counselors were recently announced to serve Secretary Steven Mnuchin at the Department of the Treasury. The counselors are Daniel Kowalski, Shannon McGahn, Justin Muzinich, and Craig Phillips. Kowalski joined the Treasury Department from the Senate Budget Committee, where he served as director of policy, then deputy staff director. He will focus on budgetary issues, the debt limit, and infrastructure finance. McGahn, who previously served as staff director for the House Committee on Financial Services, will focus on legislative and public affairs. Muzinich, most recently president of the investment firm Muzinich & Co., will advise Secretary Mnuchin on major policy initiatives and tax reform. Phillips, who was a managing director at BlackRock, Inc., will work on domestic finance, housing finance policy, and regulatory reform.
