The Winter 2009 edition of the News Media Yellow Book provides access to journalists holding over
37,000 positions at the leading news media organizations. Coverage includes 1,950 national media

186 radio stations, 32 programs, 818 periodicals, 173 non-U.S. media outlets, 66 publishers, and 174
independent journalists and columnists. Coverage also includes e-mail addresses for over 20,000 journalists.

Key Personnel Changes
The following are some of the more important changes that have taken place since the Fall 2008 edition
of the News Media Yellow Book:
News Services
At the Associated Press, Tim Reiterman, previously Environment Writer, Los Angeles Times, was
named News Editor at the San Francisco Bureau. Genetta Adams, previously Assistant Managing
Editor, Features and Entertainment, Newsday, was named Entertainment Editor.
At Thomson Reuters, Chris Cramer, previously Executive Vice President and Managing Director,
CNN International, was named Global Editor of Multimedia, Reuters News. Rob Doherty left the position
of Washington Bureau Chief. The position is vacant.
Newspapers
Hollis Towns, previously Executive Editor, The Cincinnati Enquirer, was named Executive Editor and
Vice President, News at Asbury Park Press, replacing William C. Hidlay.
At The Baltimore Sun, Robert Blau left the position of Managing Editor. The position is now vacant.
At Capital Journal, Rebecca Cruse, previously the Acting Editor, succeeded Andrew Cutler as
Managing Editor.
Taylor Batten, previously National News Editor, was named Editorial Page Editor at The Charlotte
Observer, replacing Ed Williams.
At The Chicago Tribune, Tony Hunter, previously Senior Vice President, Circulation and Operations,
Chicago Tribune Company, was named Publisher, President and Chief Executive Officer. He took over
from Interim Publisher Robert J. Gremillion. Tran Ha, previously Editor, TheMash, was named Editor,
RedEye, filling a vacancy.
William H. Fleet, previously President and Publisher, Bradenton Herald, was named President and
Publisher at The Fresno Bee. He succeeded Ray Steele Jr.
Claude Albert left as the Managing Editor at Hartford Courant. The position is vacant.
At the Los Angeles Times, Alice Short was named Assistant Managing Editor, Features. Nicholas
Goldberg, previously Op-Ed Page and Sunday Opinion Editor, was named Deputy Editor, Editorial
Pages. Sue Horton replaces Nicholas Goldberg as Editor, Op-Ed and Sunday Opinion. Ashley Dunn
was named Deputy National Editor, filling a vacancy.
Carolyn Curiel left her position as Editorial Board Member at The New York Times. She is now Senior
Advisor to the President at Purdue University.
Vickie Kilgore retired as Executive Editor at The Olympian.
Jeff Light, previously Deputy Editor, City Desk, was named Vice President of Interactive at Orange
County Register.
Michael D. Schaffer replaced Ned Warwick as Pennsylvania Editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer.
At The Post and Courier, Stephanie Harvin, previously Regional Editor, was named Features Editor,
replacing Ann Mitchell. Marcus Amaker was named Preview Editor. Shirley Greene, previously Faith
and Values Editor, was named City Editor.
At The Tennessean, Dwight Lewis, previously Editorial Page Columnist, succeeded John Gibson as
Editorial Page Editor.
At The Washington Post, Eric Pianin was named Politics Editor for The Federal Page at
Washingtonpost.com.
At The Wall Street Journal, Gerard Baker, US Editor, Washington Bureau, The Times of London, was
named Deputy Editor in Chief, effective January 2009.
Ellen M. Foley resigned as Editor of the Wisconsin State Journal. The position is vacant.
Networks
Jake Tapper, former Senior National and Political Correspondent, was named Senior White House
Correspondent at ABC News. Martha Raddatz, former Chief White House Correspondent, was
named Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent and Jonathan Karl, former Senior National Security
Correspondent, was named Senior Congressional Correspondent.
Loretha Jones and Stephen Hill were named President, Programming at Black Entertainment
Television, Inc.
Stephen F. Hayes and Dana Milbank joined CNN as a Political Contributors. D.L. Hughley joined as
Host of D.L. Hughley Breaks the News.
Ken Schwab was named Senior Vice President, Programming, Discovery Channel at Discovery
Networks.
At Fox News Channel, Lauren Petterson replaced David Brown as Executive Producer at Fox & Friends.
David Brown is now Executive Producer at The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. Brit Hume stepped
down as Managing Editor and Chief Washington Correspondent. He is now a Contributing Editor at The
Weekly Standard.
Television Stations
Mark Antonitis leaves his position of President and General Manager at KRON-TV. He was replaced by
Brian Greif.
Marty Wilke, who has severed as WGN-TV’s interim General Manager since late July was named Vice
President and General Manager.
WNET-TV launched, "Worldfocus” a weeknight broadcast which focuses on international news. Martin
Savidge, most recently of NBC News, anchors the half-hour newscast and Marc Rosenwasser is its
Executive Producer.
Gary Baxter was named Vice President and General Manager at WSYM-TV. He replaced Lyle Schulze
who is now General Manager at KMIR-TV and KPSE-TV.
At WUSA-TV, Lane Michaelsen replaced Mike Ward as News Director.
Radio Stations
At KNX-AM, Roy Laughlin was named Vice President and Market Manager. Laughlin replaces Jeff
Federman, who exited the company.
At WABC-AM, Phil Boyce leaves his position as Vice President of Programming. The position is now
vacant.
At WCBS-FM, Al Meredith, Director of News and Public Affairs and Host of Dialogue 101, has retired.
Mark Pennington, former Assistant Program Director, was named Program Director at WRIF-FM.
Programs
Scott Christiansen has left his position of Executive Director at First Business, creating a vacancy.
Periodicals
Nancy Perry Graham, former Deputy Editor, was named Editor at AARP The Magazine.
Barbara A. Rehm, former Assistant Managing Editor, was named Editor-in-Chief at American Banker.
Stewart Pinkerton and Tom Post, former Deputy Managing Editors, have both been named Managing
Editor at Forbes.
Eric Schurenberg will be leaving his position as Managing Editor at Money effective December 2008.
Craig Matters was named Managing Editor.
Steve Fox was named Vice President and Editorial Director at PC World.
Tracey Altman was named Vice President and Publisher at Reader’s Digest.
Matt DeLorenzo, former Deputy Editor, was named Editor-in-Chief at Road & Track.
Eleanor Griffin was named Vice President and Editor-in-Chief at Southern Living, replacing John Alex
Floyd, Jr.
Non-U.S. Media
Byoung Soo Sohn was named Bureau Chief of The Joong-Ang Ilbo’s New York Bureau, replacing
Chanang Wook Kim.
Publishers
At Penton Media Inc., Sharon Rowlands was named Chief Executive Officer. She is formerly the
President and Chief Executive Officer of Thomson Financial.
