Michael Flynn resigned as President Trump’s national security advisor after media revelations that he discussed U.S. sanctions with Russia’s ambassador to the United States prior to Trump taking office, and then failed to properly disclose those discussions with other top White House officials, including Vice President Mike Pence.
Dr. David Shulkin was unanimously confirmed by the Senate to be the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA.) Shulkin had been serving as the under secretary of health at VA since 2015, and was responsible for leading the Veterans Health Administration.
On Wednesday, the Senate voted to block a rule that prevented certain mentally ill people from purchasing firearms. The rule required the Social Security Administration to report the records of some mentally ill beneficiaries to the FBI’s background check system.
